Install
Nojace runs on Mac and Linux. It needs at least one coding agent installed: Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode.
Mac
macOS 11 or later.
| Your Mac | Download |
|---|---|
| Apple silicon (M1 and later) | Nojace for Apple silicon |
| Intel | Nojace for Intel Macs |
Not sure which? Apple menu → About This Mac: "Chip: Apple M…" is Apple silicon, "Processor: Intel" is Intel.
Open the .dmg and drag Nojace into Applications. The first time you use voice, macOS asks for the microphone and speech recognition.
Linux
Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+ and Fedora 39+, on GNOME or KDE, Wayland or X11, amd64 and arm64.
| System | Download | Install |
|---|---|---|
| Ubuntu, Debian | .deb (amd64) · arm64 | sudo apt install ./Nojace_*.deb |
| Fedora | .rpm (x86_64) · aarch64 | sudo dnf install ./Nojace-*.rpm |
| Any Linux | AppImage (amd64) · aarch64 | chmod +x Nojace_*.AppImage, then run it |
The AppImage needs FUSE 2, which Ubuntu 22.04 and later don't install by default: sudo apt install libfuse2 (libfuse2t64 on 24.04). Without it, run it with APPIMAGE_EXTRACT_AND_RUN=1.
Updates
Nojace checks for a new version by itself and asks before installing it; Nojace → Check for Updates… (Help on Linux) checks now. Updates come in the format you installed: an AppImage replaces itself, a deb or rpm asks for your password to install the new one.
On 0.4.13 or older? Download the current version once from this page; it updates itself from then on.
On Linux, differently
- App shortcuts are Ctrl+Shift (Ctrl+Alt for a few), so plain Ctrl+letter always reaches the terminal. Terminals copy and paste with Ctrl+Shift+C / V.
- Voice uses Whisper: hold Right Ctrl to talk. On amd64 it needs a CPU with AVX2 (Intel 2013+, AMD 2015+).
- The menu is in the window: Settings and Quit under File, About and updates under Help.
- The Containers plugin is the Mac's; Linux has the Docker plugin (docker or podman).
If something's off
- An agent isn't found: Nojace looks where your login shell does (npm, nvm, Homebrew,
~/.local/bin). Check thatclaude, codexoropencoderuns in a new terminal window. - Terminals draw garbled or blank on Linux: Settings → General → Terminal drawing → Basic.
- Anything else: Help → Report a Problem…, or open an issue.
